Last week Jackie Cohen posted an article on All Facebook summarising a report by Democracy U.K on how Facebook users acted on the social network during an average 20-minute period in 2010.
In 2010 every 20 minutes users posted over 10.2 million comments and sent more than 4.6 million messages.
Also in an individual 20 minutes in 2010 Facebook users:
- Shared links 1,000,000
- Tagged 1,323,000 photos
- Sent 1,484,000 event invites
- Posted 1,587,000 wall posts
- Updated their status’1,851,000
- Accepted 1,972,000 friend requests
- Uploaded 2,716,000 photos
- Posted 10,208,000 comments
- Sent 4,632,000 messages
Democracy U.K’s report also included the changes in people’s relationship statuses through 2010. Jackie Cohen explained the findings,
People seem more inclined to announce their availability than disclose when they couple up.”
The findings were as follows:
- 43,869,800 changed their status to single
- 3,025,791 changed their status to “it’s complicated”
- 28,460,516 changed their status to in a relationship
- 5,974,574 changed their status to engaged
- 36,774,801 changed their status to married
