Facebook has developed a new set of pages called ‘Friendship Pages.’
These new pages have been developed with the intention creating a visual representation of the relationship between the user and any of their friends.
The pages are set to be rolled out today (Friday, 29th Oct), but their is a belief that their introduction will be a staggered process.
Facebook explained that the new Friendship Pages contain the public wall posts and comments between two friends, photos in which both are tagged as well as also including events both friends have RSVP’d too.
It appears that users will be able to access the Friendship Pages by clicking on a link, situated both under any of the users’ friends profile picture and also on all relevant feed stories. Furthermore, the new pages will also be accessible for other users through this link, as long as they already have permission to view both users’ profiles.
The idea of the Friendship Pages was the brain child of Facebook engineer Wayne Kao and brought to life in one of the companies ‘Hackathons’, where engineers involved with the company are invited to develop personal or prearranged ideas they have involving Facebook.
Wayne Kao explained the benefits of the new pages:
For those of us who have worked on it, the best part is the human side of these Pages. They can bring back memories, conversations and times spent together,”
The new pages have been created with the intention of establishing a visual embodiment of the users relationship with their friends. Allfacebook believes this suggests that Facebook are preparing to establish themselves as a sight to share memories as they attempt to tap into users nostalgia.
