  • Sports New Media have been named alongside a host of burgeoning businesses in the Telegraph Tech Start-Up 100: Class of 2011.

An expert panel of judges have spent months working through applications for the prestigious list, with the definitive 100 being announced earlier today on the Daily Telegraph website.

Shortlisted in the Social Networking and Collaboration category alongside the likes of Badoo, Candytech and Lightbox, the list is designed as a ‘best guess’ at the most promising start-ups in Europe, and is yet another acknowledgement of the great work Sports New Media is involved in on facebook.

The company manage and maintain thousands of official facebook fan pages for the Professional Footballers’ Association on the social media website, and have grown the fan base towards 40 million from scratch.

Winners of each individual category are set to be announced on Tuesday in a central London awards ceremony, with a single company also set to receive the most promising overall award.

The Start-Up 100, in conjunction with TechCrunch Europe, is supported by Orrick, Silicon Valley Bank and Microsoft BizSpark. Commissioning editor: Milo Yiannopoulos. Chair of judging panel: Mike Butcher. Additional reporting by David Rosenberg.
