  • Developer Tom Waddington has created a “Suggested Share” tag, currently featured on the site Cutout and Keep.

The open-source tag is able to recognise reader’s friends ‘likes’ on Facebook, suggesting users share articles they are reading with their friends who have likes matching that of the articles content.

The Tag is currently available on Tom Waddington’s website and experienced recognition at this years Facebook London Hackathon, where it was named one of the three winners.

The Suggested Share tag is based upon the hugely popular share and like buttons available on numerous web sites. Traditionally these features post the article or page onto the users news feed or as a direct message to friends.

However the unique selling point of Tom Waddingston’s Suggested Share button is that unlike other share buttons on the market it automatically reminds or prompts the reader of their friends who’s interests match that of the article, with out making the user navigate away from the article.

Furthermore, instead  of either sending a private message to a specific friend or posting on the users news feed to all their friends . The Suggested Share button allows users to post directly to a friend’s wall. A feature believed to raise response rates above that of other congenital features on the market

For an more detailed explanation and a run-through of how the button works you can watch a video of Tom from Cutout and Keep explaining the feature at the Facebook Hackathon.
