  • Vauxhall has launched a social media campaign to promote its sponsorship of the home national football teams.

The British car manufacturer is aiming to zoom their support to football fans with a range of apps and competitions via its Vauxhall Football Facebook Page.  This is a highly effective social media campaign that connects and engages football fans with the automotive brand through humorous apps and dream prizes.

The app enables fans to have a makeover with a choice of retro hairstyles from iconic footballers from the 70s and 80s, including Kevin ‘the perm’ Keegan and Rudi ‘the mullet’ Voller.  Fans can upload and share their hairdos with other Facebook fans.

A competition – The Big Pitchasks fans to imagine and pitch their dream of playing for their home nation, taking the first steps on to the football ground.  Winners get the opportunity to train at Wembley or Windsor Park in Northern Island, or receive tickets to watch the England v Holland game on 10 August 2011.

In March, the car brand owned by General Motors, announced that social media would play a fundamental role in the three-year sponsorship of the English, Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland national football teams.  Vauxhall are also supporting the Football Association’s grassroots football initiatives to encourage youth, women’s and disability football participation.
